Adobe Frame Maker enables IBM to produce worldwide versions of its Product & Price guides for the IBM Personal Systems Group in a fraction of the time and for a fraction of the cost of its previous publishing solution.The IBM Personal Systems Group organizes its marketing programs by geographical areas, or Geographies, including the United States, Latin America, and others. These Geographies had been creating their own product and pricing guides using mainframe systems.

The IBM Personal Systems Group already published pricing, product specifications, and marketing messages on two Lotus
Notes databases at its headquarters that, inturn, fed into localized Lotus Notes databases for each Geography. IBM decided to leverage the Notes database to create the product and pricing guides.

“With PDF, any printer in the world no matter what platform or software they have can produce and print the Product
Pricing Guide exactly as we designed it,” says Simmons,Worldwide Project Manager, IBM Personal Systems Group “Because of their small size, PDF files are easier to load to the Internet and various IBM internal networks.”Simmons also attributes the automated application to improved service for his customers: business partners and IBM marketing representatives.
